What's an evangelical christian, is that a denomination?

It is a general term for Christians of many denominations who have a conservative view of Christianity and the Bible. They believe that Jesus is leterally God's Son in the flesh. They believe he rose from the dead and that humans must put their faith in Christ to be saved and gain eternal life. There are some denominations that are clified as evangelical because their leadership and most memberes share these beliefs. This is true of most Baptist denominations as well as Pentecostals, emblies of God and Nazarenes. Also many independent churches fit into this group. There are also evangelicals who are memberes of more liberal denominations where the denomination and its leadership may not be clified as evangelical. There is a loose affiliation of many conservative denominations called the National ociation of Evangelicals. But some large evangelical denominations such as the Southern baptists are not members.
